The project, carried out in collaboration with the StoryVR Association, the University of Milan-Bicocca and funding from CEPELL, exploits Virtual Reality technology to provide users with the possibility of enjoying a new form of entertainment that responds to informative and informative needs. information.

Virtual reality is now widespread in the field of culture, where there are many innovative applications, especially for art and museums. The success encountered by this type of technology, especially among the youngest, favors the approach to reading, as emerges from the experiments already underway in various contexts: significant examples are the Litcraft project - started by the University of Lancaster, which combines reading of a book, interactive activities and creative writing – and the introduction of VR among user services in some US library systems.

Starting from September 2019, the Milan Library System launched the "Literary Experiences in Virtual Reality" initiative which involved five libraries of the System: workshop meetings were organized during which users were guided in the creation of their own virtual worlds. In this way, participants acquired a global vision of the tool and the information necessary to create virtual environments, such as intuitive open source software. Furthermore, an introduction to the use of Virtual Reality was carried out within the Milan San Vittore prison in coordination with the associations active in that context.
