Italian Creative Cities - Milan City of Literature
Italian Creative Cities
There are currently 13 Italian Creative Cities, including Milan, and are organized in a national coordination, created in 2016 and directed by the Creative City of Fabriano.
The objectives of the coordination are the following:
-
Actively support the UCCN network, encouraging its development both nationally and internationally, to achieve the objectives defined in the UCCN mission statement;
-
Strengthen the role of UCCN Italian cities within the network;
-
Develop forms of collaboration between member cities, also through the involvement of other national and international thematic networks, of which the cities are part;
-
Establish itself as a reference point and hub for creativity at a national level;
-
Becoming a platform for reflection and research in the context of new economies and promoting the integrated connection between culture, economic development and tourism;
-
Create a privileged communication channel with the Italian UNESCO National Commission and with the Permanent Representation of Italy at UNESCO;
-
Encourage the membership of further Italian cities in the UCCN, hopefully also belonging to the clusters that are not currently represented in the coordination;
-
Promote interaction in their territories between the activities of Creative Cities and UNESCO Sites for the development of innovative projects that link cultural heritage and creativity.
