How to accredit a nursery

The Lombardy Region, with the Regional Council Resolution no. 1428/2023, updated the criteria for the accreditation of offering units for socio-educational services aimed at early childhood.

Accreditation is the process of further qualification of the Social Offering Units in operation. The request for accreditation is voluntary. The "accredited" entity is recognized as an entity that can provide services or services relating to the Accredited Offering Unit on behalf of the Public Service.

The Municipality of Milan participated in the regional discussion table for the revision of the accreditation criteria and approved the public notice updated to the new regional criteria and the directions of the Municipal Council.

Accreditation is a necessary prerequisite to be able to stipulate contracts or agreements with the Municipality of Milan for the purchase of educational services for early childhood.

A fundamental and indispensable condition to obtain the accreditation of a Social Offering Unit is to have presented the Prior Operation Communication (CPE) or to be in possession of the authorization to operate and to possess all the qualification requirements (accreditation requirements) established by the Municipality.

It is possible to apply immediately, a transitional period is foreseen to allow managers to adapt to the new requirements: in fact, those who apply for accreditation by 31 January 2024 will have time to present the new documents required until 29 February 2024.

The offering units that are already accredited will have until February 29, 2024 to submit the request to meet the new requirements.
