Citadel of Archives

The Citadel of Archives, which preserves the documents of the General Archive of the Administration, deals with:

  • protect, sort and classify Municipal Administration documents
  • return documents to the Municipal Offices that request them
  • help users in searching and consulting documents
  • reproduce documents in analogue or digital format
  • carry out periodic document selection operations with the discarding of those that have completed the conservation cycle
  • safeguard and enhance the municipal archival heritage.

Subject to authorization issued by the Management of the Cittadella degli Archives and for exclusive study reasons, researchers or students may consult and possibly reproduce the freely consultable documents preserved in the deposits of the Cittadella degli Archives and the former Civic Archives.

Prior authorization from the Archive Superintendence for Lombardy is not required, except in particular cases.

The headquarters in via Gregorovius, 15 is equipped with:

  • a consultation room recognized by the Archive Superintendence of Lombardy
  • a scanning room with the most modern equipment
  • a latest generation mechanized archiving system.
