How is the vote cast on the ballot paper?

1. The president of the polling station gives the voter two ballot papers, one for the House and one for the Senate. The models of the two cards are identical.

  • The ballot papers bear the name of the candidate in the single-member constituency and, for the multi-member constituency, the name of each list or coalition of lists connected to it
  • next to the marks of the lists are the names of the candidates in the multi-member constituency.

2. The vote is expressed by drawing a mark on the rectangle containing the name of the list and the names of the candidates in the multi-member constituency.

  • The vote thus expressed is valid for the purposes of electing the candidate in the single-member constituency and in favor of the list in the multi-member constituency.
  • if the sign is drawn only on the name of the candidate in the single-member constituency, the vote is still valid also for the connected list
  • in the presence of multiple lists connected in a coalition, the vote is divided between the lists of the coalition in proportion to the votes obtained by each list in all sections of the single-member constituency

Separate voting is not foreseen for the election of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate of the Republic.

The voting methods are also shown on the external part of the ballot paper.

Characteristics of ballot papers

The new ballot papers are equipped with a paper appendix equipped with an "anti-fraud coupon", with a progressive alphanumeric code generated in series.

After the voter has voted and returned the ballot to the president of the polling station, the appendix with the coupon is detached from the ballot and kept by the members of the polling stations, who check the correspondence between the coupon number and the one noted before delivery of the ballot paper to the voter.

The president of the polling station inserts the ballot paper into the ballot box only after this check.

In the Attachments copies of the ballot papers are available.
