In large areas of the city, parking is subject to regulation with payment and/or reservation of spaces for residents and their equivalents.

Parking spaces and their limitations are easily recognizable because they are marked with colored stripes:

• yellow stripes
  - for residents and equivalents who display the badge issued by the municipal administration
  - for loading and unloading
• blue stripes
  - for rotational parking subject to payment of an hourly rate, defined in the parking area to which it belongs
  - the areas have different rates, times and durations
• white stripes
  - indicate free parking.

The yellow and blue stripes are accompanied by vertical signs indicating areas, rates and parking methods. 

In all regulated areas parking is free for:

• vehicles of residents and equivalent (only if explicitly indicated by vertical signs)
• vehicles with a disabled permit
• law enforcement vehicles

Facilities
Then they exist monthly subscriptions and discounted deductible cards for particular categories of workers forced to use private vehicles for work travel.

How to prove parking payment

1. Coupons and stamps
   - display the title inside the vehicle in a visible position

2. payments via App
   - operators verify the transaction in real time with IT tools.

Paid parking on the street is regulated by the Sosta Milano system and managed by ATM on behalf of the Municipality. The hourly rates are set by City Council Resolution no. 31 of 23 July 2013 and subsequently modified by City Council Resolution no. 2292 of 29 December 2016.
