Le Civic Historical Collections of Milan protect and enhance their own . also through the cataloging, which is carried out using IT systems that allow the information sheets of the preserved cultural heritage to be consulted, giving visibility also to materials not normally accessible to the public as they are stored in deposits. 

The consultation of online catalogues, through various platforms such as Sirbec, Mebic, Photographs in the Municipality e Graphics in the Municipality, allows access to computerized database relating to the enormous historical and artistic heritage preserved. The cataloging activity, carried out by experts in various capacities, is still ongoing and ongoing continuous update.

MEBIC – Museums and Libraries in common 

In 2016, a portal was created, called Mebic - Museums and libraries in the municipality, which allows you to direct the consultation of the collections of various institutions (museums and libraries) belonging to the Superintendence Area of ​​the Castle, Archaeological Museums and Historical Museums (including the museums of the Sforzesco Castle, the Civic Archaeological Museum, Palazzo Morando and Palazzo Moriggia). 
 
The MeBiC project aims to put online the heritage preserved in the institutes of the Municipality of Milan, giving the possibility of carrying out searches within the assets of a single institute. 
 
The project is continuously updated. 

Photographs in the Municipality 

The Civic Historical Collections also join the project "Fotografieincomune", which collects the photographic heritage preserved in civic institutes.  

The leading body is the Civic Photographic Archive which is based in the Sforzesco Castle. On Fotografieincomune it is possible to consult the Arturo Andreoletti photographic fund and the Album of the Thousand, one of the most important photographic albums that the collections include, whose recent cataloging and scientific filing were possible thanks to the precious contribution of the Amichae cultural association.

Graphics in the Municipality

Grafiche in Comune is the virtual library of graphics and book illustration in one click" which collects the artistic heritage of works on paper and books preserved in the museums, archives and specialist libraries of the Municipality of Milan.

Together with us, the following participate in the "Graficheincomune" initiative: the "Achille Bertarelli" Civic Print Collection, the Civic Drawing Cabinet, the Civic Historical Archive, the Trivulziana Library and the Art Library of the Sforzesco Castle.

The project, started in 2008, was born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Milan and the Amici della Raccolta Bertarelli Association with the contribution of the Rocca Foundation.
