Disinfestation from harmful animals and insects

Where does the Municipality intervene?
In the disinfestation of animals, harmful insects and vectors of pathogenic elements in public spaces or municipal property, the Administration intervenes directly on:

  • municipal buildings and similar structures
  • directly managed municipal residential buildings
  • nurseries, nursery schools, micro-nurseries
  • elementary and middle schools
  • some sewage works
  • manholes and vents in the areas used for weekly open markets
  • wells, manholes and vents within municipal buildings
  • manholes, manholes and vents in city streets and roads
  • municipal banks of the discovered canals.

In all other cases, interventions in public spaces are carried out following a report from the ATS - Health Protection Agency.

Who should take care of non-public spaces?
For all non-municipal spaces, disinfection, disinfestation and rodent control interventions are the responsibility and expense of the owners of the buildings and land in which they take place or of whoever has the actual availability.

Unlike wasps and hornets, bees are considered beneficial and income-generating insects they should be captured by private entities willing to carry out the recovery free of charge and promptly, as well as possibly conducted in an apiary that allows quarantine for the health assessment of the swarm.
