Transfer the ashes or bone remains to Milan

For deceased persons living in the municipality of Milan who have not already found a burial in another municipality:

  • it is not necessary to obtain prior authorization from the municipal offices of Milan. The deceased person must be taken into storage in one of the city cemeteries to then proceed with the completion of the administrative procedures based on the type of burial requested.

In all other cases:

  • it is necessary to obtain prior authorization from the municipal offices of Milan by submitting a written request, with a €16,00 tax stamp.

Deceased persons who do not have the right to burial in Milan must not be taken to the city cemeteries for storage. Transport to storage is subject to prior authorization being issued.

Request

In case of an application for an exemption for the transfer of a deceased person to Milan, prepare:

  • written and motivated request (specify the cemetery in which you would like to bury or bury the deceased person and the reasons why you are requesting the transfer to Milan);
  • revenue stamp of €16,00;
  • copy of a valid identity document of the applicant.
