The public-private partnership project proposal to redevelop the center of Via Valfurva was accepted

Milan, September 23 2022 – The process has begun which will bring the Scarioni sports and seaside center in Via Valfurva, in Municipality 9, back into activity.

The Council recognized the public interest of the project proposal for the concession for the construction of a new sports center in the area, as well as the subsequent management for a period of 42 years, presented by the Iberian company Ingesport Health and SPA Consulting SA

The public-private partnership project involves an important redevelopment project that will give a new face and new functions to the plant, returning it to the city.

Inside, the new Scarioni seaside sports center will host a teaching pool, a six-lane swimming pool (25 x 12,5 metres), a hydrotherapy and SPA area, multipurpose rooms, a fitness room, general changing rooms and group, playroom and bar, as well as technical rooms for the administration, athletes and service staff.

The external spaces will be redefined: a seaside center will be created with a swimming pool for adults and another for boys and girls and a large green area will be redesigned, with pedestrian and parking areas with photovoltaic panels attached to the center .

The demolition works will affect the entrance building on via Valfurva and the one that houses the rotating booths on via Val Maira. A new building will therefore be built for the purpose of a fitness center-gym and a multi-storey car park.

The management of the multifunctional building adjacent to the sports center is also envisaged, which will be renovated to provide the neighborhood and the city with a space for meeting, collaboration, integration and practice of particular sports disciplines.

Rates will be in line with sector references; discounted season tickets are available for families (free for minor children), and discounts for young people and seniors. The external structures will be open to everyone, even non-members.

The cost of the redevelopment intervention - 24 months of work is expected - is estimated at approximately 17,8 million euros and will be completely borne by the concessionaire. The annual concession fee has been quantified at 80.000 euros, starting from the fourth year of activity.

The Administration will open a tender to accept further proposals, with a right of pre-emption in favor of the proposer, according to law.

As part of the procedure, the Municipality will be able to ask for improvements from the entities that will participate, implementing what has been decided by Municipality 9 regarding pricing for free users, concessions and free admission for disabled people, agreements, educational-social projects and initiatives promoted by the Municipality , parking stations for activities of interest to the community and bike sharing stalls.
