Together with the Municipality of Milan, the 'Milan Community Foundation' has launched, in recent years, Play at the Center - Playgrounds for Everyone, a project to create accessible equipped areas with inclusive games in the public parks of the 9 municipalities of the city.

The design of the park is by the 'Social Housing Foundation', with the participation of the Mayor's Delegate for Accessibility Policies, Lisa Noia and of the associations delegated to the 'Permanent disability table' (L'Abilità onlus, Anffas - Milan, Uildm, Ledha - Milan, Uici, Pio Istituto dei Sordi and Inter campus).

The young special correspondents.

Instead of the traditional neighborhood party, due to anti-Covid precautions, a smaller but equally joyful inaugural event was held, in fact the boys and girls of classes 5 A and 5 B of the IC 'Sant'Ambrogio', accompanied by teachers Maria Mancini e Lorenza Bigoni and the head teacher, Milca Granese officially opened the new play area to the public, in the presence of Pierfrancesco Maran, councilor for Green and of Holy Minniti, president of Municipality 6.

The young special correspondents tried the games and, filmed by the camera, illustrated the equipped area, their favorite games and how to play together, directly expressing their appreciation for this playground, whose design broadens the concept of social inclusion, applying an innovative design that goes beyond classic rides, in favor of solutions with more creative, free and multi-functional play spaces: an original approach tailored to specific contexts.

The accessible playground in Piazza Paci, in the heart of the Sant'Ambrogio district, has a surface area of 530 square metres, spread over a main flowerbed of 1.300 square meters and an adjacent one which constitute two green segments of the square, around the large fountain known for the Centaur Monument by Igor Mitoraj: the play area is part of an overall rethinking of the square.

The play space is characterized by a circular play wall, of variable height (not exceeding one meter and fifty), which allows for a path of different play experiences: a wall which is, at the same time, an opportunity for play and a support for having fun, in fact you can cross, climb and walk: a wall that does not divide but creates different play possibilities for everyone.

With I play at the Center, each new park brings with it an activity to raise awareness and respect for disability and diversity and, thanks to the collaboration with the social cooperative 'La Cordata' and other local operators, creative workshops will be held until October 2022. sports and meetings in schools (from nurseries to secondary schools) and in places frequented by children; the park will be animated by aggregation events for children and young people of different age groups, with a broad and detailed entertainment program that encourages the active involvement of the inhabitants of the neighborhood.
