Mayor's Delegate for Accessibility Policies

From 21 July 2022 Professor Joseph Arconzo is the new delegate for Accessibility Policies of the Municipality of Milan.

The role, which will last until the end of the mandate of Mayor Giuseppe Sala and will be carried out free of charge, includes in particular:

to implement, on the basis of what is defined in the Plan for the Elimination of Architectural Barriers (PEBA), the actions agreed in the working groups already agreed in the 2016-2021 mandate;
to continue to develop proposals and projects on the topic of accessibility, in order to allow everyone to have equal access to all the assets, both tangible and intangible, of the city;
to present, also in view of the 2026 Olympics, an inclusive and accessible Milan for all, also possibly through accessibility guidelines/plans, which could serve as a driving force for the policies defined within the PEBA;
to actively participate in the implementation of PNNR projects whenever they may involve the field of universal accessibility and the elimination of architectural barriers;
the creation and promotion of initiatives, events and demonstrations with the aim of involving and raising awareness among citizens on the topic of universal accessibility.

The work of the Mayor's Delegate for Accessibility Policies will be carried out in close collaboration with all the departments involved, in particular with that of Welfare and Health.

Giuseppe Arconzo has been an associate professor of Constitutional Law at the University of Milan since 2016, where he teaches Rights of people with disabilities and Regional and local authority law.
