AccogliMi - Psychological support for adolescents and parents

AccogliMI is a project dedicated to girls and boys aged 14 to 18 and their parents, aimed at encouraging listening and accompaniment to adolescents through psychological support, information and awareness-raising actions.

Created in collaboration with the Health Protection Agency (ATS), "Network of schools that promote health" and thanks to funding from the Municipality of Milan (ex law 285/97), Welcome ME is managed by a network of third sector bodies (Minotauro, Ceas, Nivalis, Zero5, Lotta contro l'marginazione, Comunità Nuova, Diapason, Comin) which offers girls and boys free courses aimed at overcoming moments of difficulty, discomfort or unease.

The project, launched in the two-year period 2021-2022, will continue until August 2024.

  • Identify the need early, orienting girls and boys and their families to the services available in the area;
  • enhance the peer group as a protective factor, through the activation of specific group paths and the integration of girls and boys in the paths/workshops/activities offered by the territory;
  • allow boys and girls, through the proposed activities, to feel like an "active part" in the growth process and in communicating their experience to their peers, through different communication channels appropriate to their age;
  • promote widespread knowledge of services dedicated to adolescence in the city.

  • Listening and accompanying girls and boys who face moments of difficulty and who ask for help also through their behavior (school withdrawal, attacks on the body, manifestations of various types of discomfort);
  • specialist telephone reception which integrates the first listening (which takes place via the toll-free number and/or mobile phone) with the aim of examining the request for support in more detail, encouraging any individual interviews or group activities envisaged by the project and maintaining/deepening contacts with the parents ;
  • short consultation paths for adolescents and their parents, online and in the locations dedicated by the project partners;
  • group courses on topics related to the adolescent phase (e.g. affectivity, sexuality and drug abuse), organized both locally and in schools and other institutions, to enhance experiences in the peer group;
  • orientation and support to adolescents and their families in the use of competent territorial resources based on the needs identified.
