Assignment of columbariums: how it works

The columbarium is a niche created by the Municipality to house the coffin of the deceased person and can be granted for a duration of 30 or 40 years. The concession requires the stipulation of a contract between the requesting person and the Municipality.
The columbarium must be kept in a state of decorum and safety at the care and expense of the concessionaire or those entitled to it.

Requests for assignments for deceased will not be accepted:

  • deceased and living residents outside the Municipality;
  • deceased or living residents of Milan who have already been buried outside the Municipality;
  • already buried in one of the city cemeteries.

In case of cancellation before the contractual deadline, the concessionaire has the right to a partial refund of the amount paid for the calculation of which 20% of the amount paid will be deducted for each year or fraction of a year elapsed from the date of the concession.

The refund does not concern sums paid for secretarial fees, tax stamps and any expenses.

time (show up at least 30 minutes before the office closes):

  • Monday to Friday, 8am to 30pm;
  • Saturdays and midweek holidays from 8 to 30 (entrance from via Rastrelli);
  • Sunday from 8 to 30 for deaths in homes and deaths in nursing homes without a mortuary (entrance from via Rastrelli).
