Expected program
Increase the regeneration dynamics already underway in the neighbourhood, creating synergies with the vocation that the urban area is taking on over the years, oriented towards education, research, culture and innovation (Fondazione Prada, Symbiosis, IFOM, Sharing Cities) and encouraging ecological connections towards the south.

Participation in the program
18 expressions of interest, 4 finalists, 3 final proposals.

Winning project
“Vitae” is a place dedicated to scientific research in the oncology field. The intervention is structured on a green spiral of vegetable gardens and vineyards, a 150 meter "promenade" that externally connects the various floors, from the square at the foot of the building to the panoramic cultivated terrace for public use.
The redevelopment project extends across Via Serio and the external spaces of the square serving public use will be used to host temporary events.
From an environmental sustainability perspective, the project proposes a green roof that will help absorb and drain rainwater and reduce the heat island effect as well as a photovoltaic system for energy production.

Progress of implementation
Release of the building permit for the implementation of the intervention by December 2022.

With resolution no. 1983 of 10.11.2017, the Municipal Council approved participation in the first edition of the program by putting up a tender for their sale of the sites in via Serio ("Serio"), viale Doria ("Doria"), via Fetonte ("Scuderie de Montel”) and viale Monza n. 148 (“Gorla Market”). The procedure concluded with the awarding of the Serio, Doria and Scuderie de Montel sites. Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane SpA (FS) and FS Sistemi Urbani SRL (FSSU) also joined the tender with the former Greco Breda railway yard (“Scalo Greco Breda”).
