Winning project
A place with an identity and at the same time an international one, an important hub of regional exchange, steeped in tradition and modernity, with finished stories and new beginnings, in search of a new center capable of giving shape and soul to the web of the polycentric city.
The new center of Bovisa was created by canceling a divisive pre-existence, the barrier of the railway line, and connecting the two parts of the neighborhood through a sequence of public spaces, building a part of the city capable of producing resources, renewing itself and welcoming a new community while respecting the characters and nature of historic Bovisa and its inhabitants.
It substantiates the new urban centrality by bringing into play the present institutions of international importance, entrusting a new role to the station and the interchange with the different transport systems, implementing a complex functional program of interest for the entire city, which dialogues with the city , where structures, infrastructures, services and new urban functions are shared with the inhabitants.
Finally, it takes the opportunity to imagine a project of regional importance. Bovisa is the center of gravity of the north-west development axis that connects Milan to Malpensa. It is the terminal of the ecological system from the Groane park. It is a candidate to become a model that combines the opportunity for densification offered by the very high public accessibility with the desire to build a sustainable city in all its environmental, social and economic components.
