The contract with the current manager of the flowerbeds expires at the end of the year: between September and October it will be possible to present new sponsorship proposals

Milan, August 18 2019 - The sponsorship contract for the creation and care of the flowerbeds in Piazza Duomo will expire on 31 December 2019. The Administration therefore proposes to all interested parties the possibility of presenting a new sponsorship proposal which may include both the maintenance of the current physiognomy of the flowerbeds and their rearrangement, with subsequent maintenance over time up to a maximum of three years.

The current layout of the flowerbeds, which since 2017 have hosted the project by landscape architect Marco Bay with palm trees, banana trees and floral shrubs, can therefore be maintained completely or partially, or can be modified, in strict compliance with the following parameters and constraints:
- the green area of ​​Piazza Duomo is subject to direct monumental restrictions and is located above the metro mezzanine, therefore surface loads must be carefully assessed;
- existing furnishings and structures must be respected (fences, flag poles, lamp bases, subway ventilation grills); 
- the choice of vegetation must guarantee an adequate aesthetic effect in all seasons, maintaining the current presence of trees to be placed in existing structures or in similar containers. 

Proposers will have the opportunity to view it on the website of the Municipality of Milan the floor plan provided by MM for technical information relating to the capacity of the slabs and the dimensions of the tanks/containers, necessary for a correct evaluation of the choice of plants and materials. 
It will be possible to have an Autocad file with the plan of the flowerbeds to facilitate the drafting of graphic proposals, by forwarding a specific request to the email address urb.verdesponsorizzazione@comune.milano.it. 
The proposals can be presented in the two-month period September-October, so as to be able to formalize the new sponsorship contract starting from January 2020.

The flowerbeds in Piazza Duomo are one of the hundreds of green areas managed by private individuals as part of the "Care and Adopt Public Green" project. In a decade of experimentation, collaboration and sponsorship agreements have increased by 900%, going from 50 to over 500 currently, for a total of 288.290 mXNUMX of green areas (flowerbeds, parterres, gardens etc.) looked after by private individuals.
