Elderly scams. Meetings in town halls for prevention are restarting

Milan, January 24 2020 – Meetings will restart on Tuesday 28 January in all municipalities to help older people prevent and combat scams against them. Conducted by agents of the local police, the state police, the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, the events were born as part of the "Fighting scams for the elderly" project coordinated by the Prefecture and the Municipality.

“The meetings dedicated to older people were born with the idea that it is essential to start from prevention to increasingly reduce the number of victims of scams and scams – comments the deputy mayor and councilor for Security Anna Scavuzzo -. Appointments like these, combined with operations like 'Municipal fakes', make people understand that they are not alone and that they can rely on the institutions: the first step to combat these hateful crimes".

Nine appointments between January and February to learn to recognize scammers who show up at home or who you can meet on the street, to find out about the most recurring cases and the best precautions to take, but also the useful numbers to contact if you have been victim of fraud and deception crimes.

The handbooks and flyers that are distributed during the meetings have also been made available for the municipalities of the metropolitan city.
