Mobility. Traffic data up to Friday 22 March was presented to the council commission

Milan, March 27 2020 - The portrait of the Milanese situation regarding traffic was presented to the Council Commission by the Mobility Councilor Marco Granelli. The period taken into consideration in the attached slides starts from February and arrives, week by week, until Friday 22 March.

The data highlights a significant decline in the last week (from 16 to 22 March) even when compared with the previous week (from 9 to 15 March) with the tightening of measures to contain the Coronavirus pandemic (CoViD-19) through progressive mobility bans.

Compared to the period before the containment measures, public transport (the analysis only takes into account the data relating to the presence on the metro lines) has reduced to -93% with an annotation regarding the time slot between 5 am: 00 and 7:00 in the morning, when the decrease in passengers is reduced to 75%. Car entries in Area B at -66%; car entrances in Area C -70%. The decline in taxi mobility in Area C reflects the trend of public transport: -90%. Also in Area C there is a decrease in service vehicle passages: -55%; residents: -70%.

There was also a sharp decline in the use of sharing vehicles, especially with regard to scooters, bicycles and scooters: -90%. The decline in car sharing was lighter: -80%.

Monitoring of the situation will continue in the coming days.
