Mobility. With digital it is easier to obtain parking passes. And thanks to the smart license plate controls it is no longer necessary to expose them

Milan, 30 April 2022 - From May 4th the parking passes in Milan will change: the paper permits to be displayed on the car will be definitively retired and the procedures for obtaining permits will be simplified. All thanks to the push of digitalisation which for years has become the driving force behind the innovation of services aimed at citizens in the Public Administration.

The verification of the parking permit will be delegated exclusively to the reading of the license plate, carried out both manually and automatically. Therefore, you will no longer have to display the paper sign indicating the parking area to which it belongs on the car.
Furthermore, the simplified online procedure, which until now only residents with their own cars could access, will become faster and more efficient from 4 May by extending the pass request system on the Municipality of Milan website to other categories as well.

Another important news. Residents who request a permit for a non-owned vehicle (leased or loaned for use) with just a few clicks will obtain an immediately active permit at the same time as the online application thanks to self-certification. Backoffice operators will subsequently carry out random checks on the applications received and will be able to ask citizens to provide additional documentation.
Thanks to self-certification, the procedure for non-resident citizens also becomes more streamlined, whose pass will be activated automatically after payment on the PagoPA digital platform.

The Municipality of Milan thus wanted to simplify and make the online pass issuing procedure more efficient, also in view of the expiry of the approximately 30 thousand permits officially extended due to the health emergency and which will no longer be valid from 29 June 2022.
The site therefore becomes the main channel to use to request a pass which can also be accessed by citizens with a SPID or Electronic Identity Card (CIE). But there will always be the possibility of going to the InfoPoint Area B and C in Piazza Duomo by making an appointment.
