A short excerpt from ListenMI, the cultural podcasts for new citizens

Milan, March 8 2023 – ListenToMI and ListenMI were presented today, the two new podcasts to promote awareness of the House Museums of Milan (Museo Bagatti Valsecchi, House Museum Boschi Di Stefano, Villa Necchi Campiglio and Museum Poldi Pezzoli), available free of charge on the site casemuseo.it. The project of the Circuit of Museum Houses of Milan, created in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan thanks to the support of the Cariplo Foundation, aims to tell the story of the city through a cultural journey in several stages which winds through the four Houses and the connecting streets, thanks also to the contribution of YesMilano, partner of the initiative.

The tour extends over two parallel itineraries, which travel through the two podcast projects.

ListenToMI offers a series of cultural itineraries aimed at an English-speaking audience of future/potential tourists, through podcasts created by Invisible Studio. It is a multi-voiced journey with 21 exceptional guests for a journey through contemporary art, architecture, design, fashion, music and literature: the six chosen themes will be developed by musicians, architects, designers, stylists, writers and graphic designers, alongside critics and historians. The podcasts, both in Italian and English, are made available free of charge on the casemuseo.it website and on the main platforms such as Apple Podcast e Spotify. A new route will be published on the site every month. The first, already online, is dedicated to contemporary art.

The project Listen to me, dedicated to new citizens and non-native speakers residing in Milan, offers an educational audio tour in six stages designed as an extended experience, capable of entering into dialogue with the recipients before, during and after the visit to the four house museums. Built specifically by "Aedo. Experimenting with cultures", the innovative teaching format is structured for the learning of the second language (L2).

"The Milanese museum houses are treasure chests of history and beauty, and represent a wealth of our city – declared the councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi –. The important work of valorization continues through all possible tools, and this dual initiative moves precisely in this direction, using the digital medium in an innovative, at the same time inclusive and international way to bring new segments of the public closer to the knowledge of the Museum Houses, of the urban fabric that surrounds and connects them and, ultimately, to the artistic and culture that reveals itself more and more every day".

The two projects enrich the initiative "From house to house" (launched in 2016) by the Circuit with the aim of making the network of house museums in Milan more known and attractive for the international and national public, also through the use of new digital languages and tools. As part of the project they are In addition to offering the two new podcast itineraries, the digitalisation of the House museum card, the facilitation of purchasing procedures via e-ticketing and the promotion of the circuit via social platforms have also been programmed. With a view to further international development of the project it was decided to propose the English version of the chatbot game "Bot house museums", also developed by Invisible studio, a digital game that allows anyone who purchases the House museum card to interact with an automatic system that takes them on a treasure hunt in the four house museums of Milan.

Preliminary to the project was the analysis of tourist demand in Milan, carried out in collaboration with the Destination management course of the IULM University of Milan aimed at understanding the digital behavior of Italian and foreign tourists, and evaluating the positioning of the Museum Houses in the interior of the city's museum offering. In fact, to encourage the widespread diffusion of the project throughout the territory, an educational event will be organized on Thursday 23 March aimed at operators in the tourism sector which aims to raise awareness and raise awareness of the initiatives of the Museum Houses.

"ListenToMI and ListenMI develop well the idea of experiential tourism on which we are working as an Administration to promote Milan in Italy and abroad, through the languages of new technologies – commented the councilor for Tourism and Youth Policies, Martina Riva –. The podcasts become guides before, during and after the visit to the house museums of our city, in a relationship that starts from the digital and virtual dimension to arrive at the physical and real visit, in person. I am sure that tourists and new citizens will not native speakers - to whom the two projects are mainly aimed - will appreciate the way in which the splendid reality of the Museum Houses will allow them to discover some of the most evocative and fascinating places in our city".

The graphics of the project like that of the Circuito Case museo in Milan are curated by Mstudio and are coordinated with the site, promotional materials and with the trailer created by Icastica.
