Neighborhood gathering events

In the Municipalities it is possible to organize neighborhood events or street and square demonstrations.
These are aggregation events that respond to the needs of collective aggregation in the territory closely linked to the promotion and valorisation of the specific territorial area. Their implementation enhances the economic, commercial, artisanal and social territorial realities present in the Municipality where the initiative is held, with the presence of street trading as an ancillary feature.

When do they take place?
The events are included in a schedule, on at least a six-monthly basis, which highlights the thematic aspect of connotation, referable to tradition, local history or the season.

Who organizes them?
The subjects responsible for organizing and carrying out the events are identified following the completion of public procedures, within which the project proposals are evaluated.

Part of these moments of aggregation are:

  • fundraising for charitable purposes by non-profit associations
  • Christmas themed events organized between 1 December and 6 January
  • events aimed at achieving social, cultural and welfare objectives
  • direct sale of agricultural products or handicraft products, with particular attention to artistic craftsmanship
  • characteristic and traditional events structured and recurring over time
  • promotion and sale of books and editorial products
  • events in which the interest and direct action of the municipal administration or other public administrations and/or political parties is evident
  • events proposed within special projects, with characteristics of extemporaneousness and which are not repeated over time.

Commercial activities have the following specificities:

  • generally exercised by a plurality of operators
  • temporary activity with a defined start and end
  • activities in public areas
  • retail business involving the sale of food and non-food products.

The Municipality where the initiative takes place is responsible for:

  • contract for the organization of the initiative or event
  • concession of temporary occupation of public land
  • authorization for temporary sales in public areas.

However, the Municipality is not responsible for related authorizations, such as:

  • public entertainment license
  • traveling show authorization
  • exemption for exceeding noise limits
  • authorization for exhibitions and/or events with animals
  • which must be requested from the other municipal offices that deal with the matters.

Municipalities can grant contributions to cover the Single Fee due to participate in the initiatives.

The amount of the contributions is decided by each Municipality independently, in light of the economic availability and the criteria identified by the Municipal Council.

For more information and to find out how to request the contribution, see the section Subject Linking.
