Piazza Sicilia is a new space for socializing in front of the IC Umberto Eco school. The needs of the children guided the project development, concentrating the transformation in two main areas: the first intervention completely remodels the area in front of the school in Piazza Sicilia, making it pedestrian and equipped with benches, potted trees, ping pong tables and picnic. The second intervention starts from via Sacco, where a new pedestrian path was created which ends in via Seprio, the second entrance to the school. Here too the intersection has been rationalized, shortening the length of the pedestrian crossings and expanding the pedestrian space available to parents. “Open” Piazza Sicilia thus connects the school, the nearby municipal library, and the park, previously divided by a redundant road system.
