How do I apply for a free parking permit?

The applicant, a natural person who has a vehicle registered in Italy and an Italian driving licence, must submit the request via the ONLINE procedure after accessing the "Citizen's File" service, with SPID or CIE credentials.

When does the release happen?

The free parking permit for electrically powered vehicles, once all the requirements have been verified when entering the online application, will be issued, following payment of the electronic tax fee, at the end of the application procedure.

The free parking permit for hybrid-powered vehicles, with an application submitted online, will be issued following the positive outcome of the investigation started with the correct forwarding of the required documentation.

How long does the permit last?

For vehicles registered in Italy:

• owned by the applicant, the duration of the permits is 5 years;
• available to the applicant (leasing, rental, loan for use, etc.), the duration of the permits coincides with that of availability, in any case not exceeding 3 years and not less than 3 months.

If the applicant's vehicle is registered in an EU or non-EU state, the permit will be issued in compliance with the provisions of national and European regulations and in particular with the provisions of the "Highway Code" Legislative Decree 285/92.

Cases of permit revocation

• Death of the permit holder;
• Loss of the requirements that gave rise to the issuance of the permit;
• Change in legal title relating to ownership or availability of the vehicle associated with the permit;
• Verification of the untruthfulness of the declarations made by the applicant, without which the permit would not have been issued.
