 Terms and conditions of use of the Social Media Channels of the Municipality of Milan

The Municipality of Milan uses the main social media to communicate with citizens via the internet. The institutional channels are managed by a digital team that reports to the municipal administration.

The channels of the Municipality of Milan are used for inform citizens about the activities of the municipal administration and for collect comments, requests, questions, criticisms and suggestions.
The channels produce their own textual content, photographs, infographics, videos and other multimedia materials which are to be considered under the Creative Commons CC BY-ND 3.0 license [ Attribution – No Derivative Works http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/3.0 /it/deed.it]: they can be reproduced freely, but must always be credited to the original reference channel.

Comments and posts by users, who should always present themselves with name and surname, represent the opinion of individuals and not that of the municipal administration, which cannot be held responsible for the truthfulness or otherwise of what is posted on the channels by third parties, entities legal or natural.

The rules regarding moderation processes are presented in the relevant paragraph.

The channels of the Municipality of Milan are moderated by Monday to Friday, from 9.30 to 18.30.

Each request is monitored and taken care of. Our goal is to respond to citizens' requests whenever possible, or to divert them to the competent offices to identify the most relevant response.

Response times vary based on the type of request; not everything can be solved through social media channels, but we will do our best to show you the best solutions!

Everyone has the right to intervene and express their free opinion. No preventive censorship is foreseen on the social channels of the Municipality of Milan. However, comments and posts that violate the conditions set out in this document will be removed.

In particular, these channels cannot be used to publish posts and comments that are discriminatory or offensive towards other users, whether or not present at the discussion, bodies, associations, companies or those who manage and moderate the social channels, for any reason.

They will not be tolerated insults, foul language, threats or attitudes that harm personal dignity, the rights of minorities and minors, the principles of freedom and equality. The following will also be moderated: comments that are off topic with respect to the discussion of a particular post (off topic); comments or posts containing sensitive data; the interventions inserted repeatedly; comments and posts written to disturb the discussion or offend those who manage and moderate the social channels; commercial spam.

The Municipality Page informs and dialogues on the issues of the city administration. During the electoral campaign, we ask everyone to respect this vocation (also in compliance with law 28/2000), avoiding using the Noticeboard and comments space for political propaganda purposes. The freedom to express one's opinion will always be protected, but posts and comments that aim to offend and/or discredit any candidate for the office of Mayor, City Council or municipal councils will be removed.  

For anyone who repeatedly violates these conditions or those contained in the policies of the tools adopted, we reserve the right to use the ban or block to prevent further interventions and to report the user to the managers of the platform and possibly to the relevant law enforcement agencies.
 

Every citizen can freely propose their own initiatives on the social channels of the Municipality of Milan through dedicated links or posts. Reports of this type in the comments are allowed if they are relevant to the ongoing discussion. Comments and posts that have nothing to do with the city of Milan will be removed.

Purely advertising contributions will be removed.

Please note that the processing of users' personal data will comply with the policies in use on the platforms used (Facebook, Twitter, You Tube, etc.).

Sensitive data posted in comments or public posts within the social media channels of the Municipality of Milan will be removed (see Moderation section). The data shared by users through private messages sent directly to the channel managers will be treated in compliance with Italian privacy laws.
