Public utility works: how the service works

The Municipality of Milan provides 150 workstations for convicted people who have obtained the possibility of replacing their sentence from the Judge to carry out public utility work or probation.

  1. Interested parties contact the Service, directly or through their lawyer, to make an appointment
  2. They carry out interview with an operator from the Public Utility Works Service, with the aim of matching the workstation with the person in the best possible way while respecting the needs and prerogatives of both.
  3. At the end of the interview the availability by the Administration to welcome the person in the context of carrying out public utility work.
  4. After having obtained from the Judge the validation to carry out public utility work, the person will go to the identified workstation to support the staff present on the agreed days and times. A responsible contact person will carry out supervision and report, with a report to the Judge, the outcome of the work.

Applicants may be employed, for example, at:

  • RSA (Assisted Healthcare Residences);
  • day centers for disabled people (CDD) directly managed by the Municipality;
  • libraries;
  • cemeteries;
  • Civic Arena;
  • Municipalities;
  • Botanical Museum;
  • implementation of the anti-heat plan.

The service is active thanks to the Agreement between the Court of Milan and the Municipality of Milan.
