Biography

Pierfrancesco Maran was born in Milan in 1980. After high school at Volta, he graduated in Political Science at the University of Milan and began his professional career as a business consultant.
Elected for the first time in the institutions at a very young age, a few months before graduating from high school, he was Councilor of Zone 3 of Milan for two terms, dealing mainly with issues related to parking and parking and the defense and development of the territory. In 2006 he became City Councilor of Milan. During his mandate he was a member of the Mobility and Environment Commission of the Municipality of Milan.
In the 2011 municipal elections he was the second most voted candidate of the Democratic Party and is the youngest Councilor of the Pisapia Council with responsibility for Mobility, Environment, Public Water, Energy and Metros.
Among the measures implemented during his first mandate, the introduction of Area C, the conclusion of the works for the M5 metro and the start of those for the M4 line, the development of bike and car sharing, the doubling of the pedestrian areas, the growth of separate waste collection by 50%, the replacement of public lighting with 100% LEDs.
During the 2011-2016 mandate he was the national delegate of ANCI, the Association of Italian Municipalities, for Mobility and Local Public Services, and President of ICS (Car Sharing Initiative).

In the 2016 Milan municipal elections he was again the second most voted and was confirmed in the council, with delegations to urban planning, greenery and agriculture.

In the 2016-2021 mandate it mainly deals with the regeneration of the railway yards, the creation of new parks and a new or redeveloped square for each neighborhood, new play areas for children, one of which is accessible in each municipality also to those with disabilities , of the new Territorial Government Plan which provides that half of the resources generated by interventions in the city center will be allocated to less central neighborhoods, and - during the pandemic - of the free concession of public space to allow bars, restaurants and recreational activities to welcome customers outdoors thanks to the tables: an administrative action that was taken up and replicated throughout the country.

In 2021 he will run again in support of Mayor Beppe Sala as leader of the Democratic Party and thanks to more than 9 thousand preferences he is the most voted candidate not only in the city but in the whole of Italy and takes on the delegations to Housing and Neighborhood Plan.
