Biography

Arianna Censi was born in Milan in 1961 and lives in Opera (Milan).

She studied Political Sciences and Sociology at university. She is a librarian and she has been engaged in politics since teenagehood. From 1990 to 1999 she was Mayor of Locate Triulzi. In 2004, Ms Censi was elected Provincial Councillor in charge of Gender Policies and she worked to improve the condition of women and to narrow the gap between men and women in the decision-making places. She has been part of the Democratic Party since its foundation, first in charge of Health in Lombardy and then of the Local Administrations of the Milan Province.
She was actively involved in the establishment of the Metropolitan City of Milan. In 2015-2016 she was entrusted by Mayor Pisapia with Mobility and Traffic and with Human Resources in the Metropolitan Administration.

In the previous mandate, she was Vice Mayor of the Metropolitan City of Milan and Councillor in charge of Infrastructures, Strategic Planning, Organization, Personnel and Requalification. Member of the PES Group in the European Committee of the Regions, she is Vice-chair of the commission for Territorial cohesion policy, and member of the Commission for Energy, Climate change and environment.
