MUSEUM AREA OF CULTURES, INTERCULTURAL PROJECTS AND ART IN PUBLIC SPACE

  • Organization and management (increase, conservation, valorization) of the collections of the Ansaldo Museum of Cultures (MUDEC)
  • Planning, management and control of cultural activities (promotion, research, development of temporary exhibition activity, communication, dissemination, teaching) of the museums and civic cultural institutes belonging to the Area, on the basis of the general planning developed by the Management
  • Development and promotion of intercultural projects and cultural activities of foreign communities also through the Città Mondo Forum and the Città Mondo Association
  • Management of the concession agreement with a third party for MUDEC in the former Ansaldo area
  • Planning, programming and management of activities related to the creation of new works of art in public spaces, also in relation to the development of urban transformations
  • Development of public art initiatives in the city
  • Evaluation of new works of art in public spaces commissioned by the administration or donated by third parties through the activity of the art experts commission
  • Management, also for the purposes of their conservation and valorisation, of new works of art in public spaces
  • Census and cataloging of existing artistic heritage located in public spaces, maintenance and updating of the catalog of newly created works
  • Management and development of activities and programs linked to national and international cultural networks and related partnerships with the aim of enhancing existing cultural heritage and resources and identifying sources of financing (also through access to national and international funding calls), in liaison with the Budget and Subsidiary Management
  • Participation in networks of organizations, committees or associations for cultural purposes through membership, including with membership fees
  • Administrative activity for the functioning of the Area.


ENTERTAINMENT AREA

  • Programming of events in the cultural schedule, in conjunction with the Specialized Major Events Management, with a view to the general planning of the Municipality's events and management of entertainment initiatives, for the area of ​​competence
  • Organization and control of artistic and cultural demonstrations and events in the theatrical, musical, dance, cinema and audiovisual fields on the basis of the general planning developed by the Management in implementation of the programming defined by the Specialized Major Events Management
  • Management of relationships with city theatres, also through agreements; management of the Theatrical Conventions System; management of agreements with foundations owned by the Municipality of Milan (Teatro alla Scala, Piccolo Teatro, etc.); management of concession agreements for the use of theater properties (Teatro degli Arcimboldi, Teatro Elfo Puccini, Teatro Dal Verme, etc.); tendering for the management of municipal theaters (Teatro Lirico, Teatro Maciachini), and management of the related concession agreements in use
  • Planning and management of cultural activities at the Palazzina Liberty, as a music hub
  • Coordination and management of the Civic Wind Orchestra and planning, organization and promotion of the annual concert seasons
  • Programming, promotion, management and control of cinematographic initiatives also in collaboration with the Cineteca Italiana Foundation and other operators; promotion of the territory through the attraction of film and television productions to Milan, in collaboration with the Lombardia Film Commission
  • Management of relationships with institutional entities, as well as with trade associations for the area of ​​competence
  • Management development of seasonal themed initiatives, in particular summer and Christmas holidays, and events, special projects and events promoted directly or in collaboration with third-party operators, also through sponsorship contracts, in implementation of the programming defined by the Large Specialist Management Events
  • Organizational support for demonstrations and entertainment events promoted and/or supported by the Area and management of relationships with other bodies, institutions, cultural bodies and with other Areas of the Administration involved
  • Management of relations with the Milan Civic Schools Foundation, with particular reference to the guidance and control functions of the municipal administration
  • Granting of patronage and contributions, including annual/multi-year contributions to individuals and institutions that carry out the activity through an agreement with the Municipality of Milan
  • Concession of entertainment room days for institutional or third party activities, based on agreements
  • Organizational support to the Work, Youth and Sport Directorate for youth cultural events
  • Support in the planning, organization and management of events, projects and special entertainment initiatives of a transversal nature or which involve multiple disciplinary fields and public and private partners, in collaboration with the Specialized Major Events Management

HERITAGE ENHANCEMENT AND OFFICE SAFETY AREA

  • Management and coordination of new cultural projects as well as new methods of managing cultural services and related obligations, management of agreements and concessions relating to municipally owned properties, as well as management of any annual and extraordinary contributions, with entities carrying out valorisation of the city's artistic and cultural heritage, in collaboration with the Management Areas and in conjunction with the competent organizational structures of the Administration
  • Collaboration with the competent Management for the definition of the Three-Year Public Works Plan for all interventions relating to the Management
  • Support to the Employer for the application of legislation on safety and health surveillance in the workplace for all Management buildings, in agreement with the Transversal Functions Unit
  • Carrying out preparatory activities/interventions for the renewal of the CPI with respect to the spaces/buildings intended for museums, libraries, exhibition spaces, etc.…
  • Taking care of the obligations related to the renewal of the CPI
  • Periodic definition of the safety and surveillance plan of the museum and exhibition venues based on the requests of the managers responsible for the venues themselves, taking into account the available resources (human, economic and instrumental) and the priorities defined with the Management
  • Management of the safety activities of the offices and works (video surveillance, anti-intrusion, fire prevention) through the personnel and technological equipment assigned in collaboration with other departments involved
  • Management of surveillance activities (monitoring of rooms, warehouses, information points and assistance to the public, etc., also in foreign languages) through assigned staff and through the use of external assignments
  • Management of ticket offices in museum spaces
  • Reviews and subsequent implementations of the entry fee system to the Civic Museums and consequent administrative management
  • Marketing actions aimed at building loyalty and increasing visitors and revenue, in collaboration with the competent organizational structures
  • Management of the operating contract for automated ticket machines
  • Liaison with the Single Central Procurement Directorate regarding the planning and management of tender procedures for the purchase of goods and services functional to the activities under the responsibility of the Directorate and the stipulation of the relevant contracts
  • Management of toponymy in collaboration with the other interested departments and with the Prefecture of Milan
  • Granting of patronage
  • Possible management of the activities pre-arranged for the awarding of public utility services, as well as of the instrumental activities entrusted to external subjects in support of the Administration, for the scope of competence and management of the related service contracts, in coordination, in relation to the assignments in favor of the investee entities, with the Budget and Participate Management
  • Management, from a legal-administrative point of view, in conjunction with the competent areas of the management of interventions in the context of public-private partnerships.

EXHIBITION AREA AND SCIENTIFIC MUSEUMS

  • Programming, organisation, management and promotion of major exhibitions at the exhibition spaces of Palazzo Reale, Palazzo della Ragione, at the exhibition venue of the Pavilion of Contemporary Art and any other exhibition spaces, on the basis of the general planning developed by the Management
  • Organization and management (increase, conservation, valorization) of the collections of the museums and institutes belonging to the Area: Natural History Museum, Planetarium, Civic Aquarium
  • Planning, management and control of cultural activities (promotion, research, development of temporary exhibition activity, communication, dissemination, teaching) of the museums and civic cultural institutes belonging to the Area, on the basis of the general planning developed by the Management
  • Project conception connected to participation in co-financed tenders and subsequent implementation, in coordination with the Budget and Participate Management
  • Administrative activity for the functioning of the Area
  • Management and development of activities and programs linked to national and international cultural networks and related partnerships with the aim of enhancing existing cultural heritage and resources and identifying sources of financing (also through access to national and international funding calls), in liaison with the Budget and Subsidiary Management
  • Granting of patronage and contributions
  • Participation in networks of organisations, committees or associations for cultural purposes by joining them, including with membership fees.


MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ART MUSEUM AREA

  • Organization and management (increase, conservation, valorization) of the collections of the museums and institutes belonging to the Area: Museum of the Twentieth Century, Gallery of Modern Art, Boschi di Stefano House Museum, Francesco Messina Studio Museum, Palazzo Morando – Costume Museum, fashion, image.
  • Planning, management and control of cultural activities (promotion, research, development of temporary exhibition activity, communication, dissemination, teaching) of the museums and civic cultural institutes belonging to the Area, on the basis of the general planning developed by the Management
  • Management and development of relationships with other cultural entities (public and private), national and international
  • Administrative activity for the functioning of the Area
  • Granting of patronage and contributions
  • Management and development of activities and programs linked to national and international cultural networks and related partnerships with the aim of enhancing existing cultural heritage and resources and identifying sources of financing (also through access to national and international funding calls), in liaison with the Budget and Subsidiary Management
  • Participation in networks of organisations, committees or associations for cultural purposes by joining them, including with membership fees.
     

CASTLE MUSEUMS AREA, ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUMS AND RISORGAMENTO MUSEUM

  • Organization, management and promotion of the collections of the museums and institutes belonging to the Area: museums and institutes of expertise located in the Sforza Castle, Archaeological Museum, Museum of the Risorgimento
  • Planning, management and control of cultural activities (promotion, research, development of temporary exhibition activity, communication, dissemination, teaching) of the museums and civic cultural institutes belonging to the Area, on the basis of the general planning developed by the Management
  • Management and development of relationships with other cultural entities (public and private), national and international
  • Valorisation and creation of networks relating to the valorisation of public and private cultural heritage
  • Administrative activity for the functioning of the Area
  • Management and development of activities and programs linked to national and international cultural networks and related partnerships with the aim of enhancing existing cultural heritage and resources and identifying sources of financing (also through access to national and international funding calls), in liaison with the Budget and Subsidiary Management
  • Granting of patronage and contributions

LIBRARY AREA

  • Programming, management, monitoring, evaluation and innovation of the services, activities and structures of the Urban Library System, based on the general planning developed by the Management
  • Innovation and development projects, also in collaboration with other municipal departments and/or other public and private entities
  • Relationships with other libraries and library systems at city, metropolitan, regional, national and international levels and with institutional bodies
  • Creation, organization and management of initiatives and projects in libraries (bibliographic exhibitions, meetings, conferences, etc.) and collaboration in events promoted by other entities (festivals, exhibitions, etc.), with particular reference to the promotion of reading, information literacy and digital, to social inclusion and interculture, to the promotion of access to culture and knowledge
  • Granting of patronage and contributions
  • Participation in networks of organizations, committees or associations for cultural purposes through membership, including with membership fees
  • Promotion and enhancement of Milan as the Italian publishing capital also through international initiatives.
