The National Program PN Metro Plus Medium-sized Southern Cities 2021-2027 (PN Metro Plus), approved by the European Commission with decision C(2022) 9773, develops in continuity with the PON Metro 2014-2020, identifying the 14 capital municipalities as Intermediate Bodies of Metropolitan Cities.
Alongside the issues already covered by the 2014-2020 Programming (digital, mobility, energy efficiency and social inclusion), the new Program expands its action in challenging and innovative areas of intervention, closely related to urban development:

• integrated urban regeneration actions;
• «green»;
• social innovation;
• access to employment;
• environmental and circular economy interventions;
• promotion of social development also through culture, natural heritage, sustainable tourism and safety.

The overall financial allocation assigned by the PN Metro Plus Program to the city of Milan is equal to 126,9 million euros.
