Born from a proposal put forward by a large group of local associations and supported by many traders overlooking the square, the "tactical" intervention in Piazzale Bacone offers new spaces for socializing and makes leaving school safer for both students and expectant parents. From a road system point of view, Via Spontini was made one-way towards the east, while the road system in Piazzale Bacone was compacted to create a new pedestrian space near the school. The intervention also includes a cycle path in the stretch of via Morgagni-Matteucci, while the pedestrian enlargements at the corners of the square facilitate the use of the commercial spaces. The street furniture helps to define the perimeter of the new pedestrian area and offers citizens the opportunity to stop and enjoy the new spaces.
