Houses of associations and volunteers

The Municipality of Milan recognizes the contribution that associations and volunteering offer to the local community in terms of social cohesion, development, solidarity, participation and active citizenship.
For this reason it supports and promotes the growth of associations in the city with the aim of:

  • support and accompany the associations by providing the infrastructure necessary for their development;
  • encourage the creation of links between associations and the territory;
  • build together with the associations Houses of associations and volunteers, places where associations can network, find tools and ideas, and meet citizens.

The Houses of Associations and Volunteering are structures present in the city area, where associations can meet and carry out institutional activities aimed at developing networks and partnerships, exchanging information, experiences and good practices for more effective social planning.

The Houses are aimed at:

- non-profit associations, recognized and unrecognized;
- committees;
- Third sector bodies registered in the Single National Register of the Third Sector (RUNTS);
- informal groups, admitted on the condition that, in their work, they pursue goals in favor of the community.

The Association and Volunteer Houses fall under the responsibility of the Welfare and Health Directorate of the Municipality of Milan.

The Houses provide associations and active citizens with resources and tools to effectively respond to their needs by supporting their development through:

  • co-working spaces (for administrative, management and secretarial activities);
  • training rooms;
  • meeting rooms;
  • exhibition and event spaces;
  • information material on associations, their projects and events;
  • information for associations;
  • support for communication and dissemination of the initiatives of the associations registered with the House;
  • meeting events between associations and citizens.

Associations and voluntary organizations can:

  •  access all services free of charge, after registering with the House;
  •  register by contacting the relevant secretariat.

Associations can access the service by presenting: the statute; the articles of association; the list of the Board of Directors. Furthermore, a short report on the activities carried out or intended to be carried out is required.

The citizens:

  •  they can meet the associations to find out about volunteering opportunities in the area, by making an appointment with a representative of the association of interest.
