The park in brief

The La Spezia park is suitable for parking and recreational activities such as sports. There are two basketball courts, one of which is covered and lit with the Coca Cola Expo structure. The garden, with fir trees, maples and cedars, is located next to the ancient Cascina Moncucco, now renovated and become a student residence.

The flooring is in concrete, self-locking and asphalt. The park is periodically monitored by the GEV, the Volunteer Ecological Guards.

The park is located in the area known for the presence of the ancient Cascina Moncucco, characterized by a rural settlement made up of houses, cottages and a mill.

The current green area, purchased by the Municipality in the mid-50s and partially used for the construction of the IACP La Spezia district in 1967, became a park in 1976. The area was planted with various tree species to shade the lawn area .

In 1979, as part of the initiatives for the International Year of the Child, the Leisure Center (now called CAM, Multifunctional Aggregation Centre) was set up with the aim of allowing indoor aggregation and sporting activities in every season. Recently the area adjacent to Cascina Moncucco was connected to the park, the existing play areas were renovated and a complete fence was created with night closing times.

A further project concerns the expansion of the green area with the dismantling of the car park that separates the garden from Largo Nuvolari.

Cascina Moncucco has become an IULM student residence for around 100 students and a space for cultural activities open to citizens.
