The park in brief

The Resistance park, dedicated to the martyrs of Tibaldi, tortured and shot by a platoon of the fascist Ettore Muti legion, has been the subject of various transformations over the decades. Until 1895 it was home to the Gentilino cemetery and, after the Great War, it became the popular Baravalle neighbourhood. The current park was designed and built between the 60s and 70s with three rows of red oak trees.

In the park there is a nursery school; the flooring is self-locking and concrete.

The area on which the park stands has been the subject of numerous transformations over the centuries. Until 1895 it was home to the Gentilino Cemetery, before becoming an area of popular villages, including Baravalle, after the First World War.

Following the design of the architect Franco Marescotti, a new popular neighborhood was built after the Second World War and was later demolished and abandoned. The Baravalle Park was created during the 60s and 70s according to a reinterpretation of the pre-existing layouts with three tree-lined rows of red oaks and with the inclusion of various social functions, such as the nursery school in via Giambologna and the Civic Center of via Tibaldi, seat of the Town Hall 5.

The area, which presents itself as an irregular alternation of trees and shrubs, is affected by the redevelopment project called "Baravalle System", which involves the creation of new sinuous paths to connect the different areas equipped with the nursery school and the civic center .

In 2013, the Baravalle Park received a new title: Resistance Park, in memory of the martyrs of Viale Tibaldi, tortured and shot by a platoon of the Ettori Muti legion.

On this occasion, a commemorative monument donated to the Municipality of Milan by the artist Antonio Musella was also placed.
