Specificity and history

Located in the Bicocca area, it is a park built on a 65 meter high hill, where it is possible to run and take a break between rows of elm trees and different species of cherry trees.

Surveillance is periodically carried out by the Volunteer Ecological Guards.

The Cherry Hill, 25 meters high, was built with the resulting materials from the construction sites that transformed the old Pirelli plants into a new district of the city. It is a green space for public use structured with a system of circular pedestrian paths that lead to the top and allow the park to be connected to the new buildings.

In addition to the Hill, the second public green intervention in the neighborhood consists of the Esplanade Gardens, located at the foot of the residences and developed on large sloping lawn areas that descend towards Viale Sarca with a height difference of 6 metres.

They are characterized as a green space with a strong geometric design, crossed diagonally by two tree-lined pedestrian paths.

A project is underway that involves connecting Bicocca with the nearby Parco Nord through a pedestrian and cycle overpass to overcome Viale Sarca.

On the Cherry Hill 820 trees and over 6000 shrubs make up wooded and shrubby strips covering an area of over 6500 mXNUMX, while on the slopes flowering cherry trees of different species and varieties have been planted (Prunus serrulata 'Kanzan', P. avium, P. subhirtella) rows of elms (Ulmus resista 'Sapporo Gold') and sophora (Sophora japonica).

Worth mentioning are the flowering cherry trees (from Prunus serrulata "Kanzan", to Prunus avium up to Prunus subhirtella) and magnolias (Magnolia soulangeana and Magnolia stellata).
