The social services of the Municipality of Milan they provide discussion and specialist support to those who find themselves in situations of acute or chronic vulnerability.

People of all ages and conditions, families, groups as well as local communities can be supported and accompanied by social services, in synergy with the resources of the city and the places they belong to, through socio-educational and social-welfare interventions that aim to promote their rights.

These actions have objectives, methods and tools based on social, pedagogical and psychological studies, on constantly evolving national, regional and local regulations just as educational, cultural, family and life models in Milan are constantly changing.

The studies, pedagogical, sociological, psychological theories and reference regulations followed by social services are summarized in the Guidelines, Directions and Operational Guidelines or Vademecum published in this section. The documents contain indications for organizing the services, individual interventions and the specific intervention function in a coordinated manner.

Thanks to the Guidelines it is possible to know the meaning, characteristics, synergies implemented and boundaries of social services interventions. The material published in this section will be progressively expanded with other documents, just as the Guidelines will be subject to periodic revision and integration.
