The death report must be submitted within 24 hours to the Municipality where the death occurred.

For deaths occurring in hospital
Contact the Health Directorate who will provide the necessary documentation to report the death.

For deaths occurring at home
Call the attending doctor who will confirm the death and fill in all the documentation necessary to report the death and its causes (ISTAT form). In the absence of a doctor, you will have to contact the emergency medical service.

After the death has been reported, the Municipality will send the necrologist to the home to ascertain the death. It is advisable to make available to doctors all the health documentation relating to the period preceding the death, as well as an identity document and the tax code of the deceased person.
