Municipality 1 – Educational Unit 3

Milan, Corso di Porta Vigentina 15/A

The Vigentina Nursery School welcomes girls and boys between 3 and 6 years old divided into 4 sections located on a single floor.

Each section is made up of a maximum of 25 girls and boys and has two reference educators.
In our school, all four sections are "heterogeneous", that is, made up of girls and boys aged 3, 4 and 5.
Each section has its own dedicated space.
In addition to the sections, girls and boys have access to various educational experiences in the common areas of the service: lounge, laboratories/ateliers, reading space, garden and vegetable garden.

The educational college, coordinated by the Manager, is responsible for the planning and implementation of the educational paths promoted during the year. In the presence of girls or boys with disabilities, the presence of educational support staff is expected.

The auxiliary staff ensures the care and cleaning of the school spaces.

Lunch is provided by Milano Ristorazione which manages its transport and daily delivery.

The section is the privileged place of emotional and relational reference in which girls and boys acquire safety and develop autonomy.

It is designed for and with children and is divided into specific and diversified spaces where girls and boys play, discover and experiment together with peers and educators.

Our 4 sections are called Ladybugs, Butterflies, Squirrels and Pandas.

Some sections directly overlook the school's main garden, others onto the common corridor and the internal garden.
In the section there is a space dedicated to the rest of girls and boys.

The common spaces are designed as places to welcome adults and children and are designed to accompany girls and boys in exploring contexts and places even "beyond" their own section.

In the common areas, laboratories, ateliers and installations are offered which help girls and boys to experiment with different languages and develop multiple learnings.

In our school, the hall is used by a section during lunch and, on a daily basis, for games, physical and musical activities and other organized activities (parties, theaters, group games).

Exploring the "outside", be it a courtyard, the school garden or a neighborhood street, means getting closer and exploring the cycle of life and the seasons, researching nature, gradually getting to know the world we live in, to understand it and learn to take care of it.

There are two gardens in the school: one dedicated to vegetable gardening and sowing activities to allow girls and boys to carry out observations and explorations of nature and one structured with a slide, climbing ladder, houses, tunnels and balance paths dedicated to welcoming ideas and motor intuitions, experiments and discoveries of play and balance in the open air.
