Municipality 1 – Educational Unit 4

Milan, bastions of Porta Nuova 6

The Bastioni di Porta Nuova nursery school welcomes girls and boys between 3 and 6 years old divided into two sections located on a single floor, along a corridor.

Each section is made up of a maximum of 25 girls and boys and has two reference educators.

Each section has its own dedicated space. In addition to the sections, girls and boys have access to various educational experiences in the common areas of the service: the sections overlook a large corridor.

A part of the space is dedicated to the consumption of lunch by girls and boys and the rest of the space features arrangements for a laboratory of sound-musical experiences, a space for symbolic play and a space for manipulation/game activities with different materials. Through some steps the children access the school's large tree-lined garden.

The educational college, coordinated by the Manager, is responsible for the planning and implementation of the educational paths promoted during the year.

In the presence of girls or boys with disabilities, the presence of educational support staff is expected.

The auxiliary staff ensures the care and cleaning of the school spaces.

Lunch is provided by Milano Ristorazione which manages its transport and daily delivery.

The section is the privileged place of emotional and relational reference in which girls and boys acquire safety and develop autonomy.

It is designed for and with children and is divided into specific and diversified spaces where girls and boys play, discover and experiment together with peers and educators.

Our two sections are called: YELLOW-PURPLE Each section overlooks a large common corridor, where the spaces described above are present.

It was set up in addition to the "scientific" space, dedicated to children's afternoon rest. In the rest of the day the space is dedicated to motor experiences.

The common spaces are designed as places to welcome adults and children and are designed to accompany girls and boys in exploring contexts and places even "beyond" their own section.

In the common areas, laboratories, ateliers and installations are offered which help girls and boys to experiment with different languages and develop multiple learnings.

In our school, the space adjacent to the sections is set up with laboratories: sound-musical-symbolic game-manipulation.

The laboratory for the first scientific experiments is set up within a dedicated space.

Exploring the "outside", be it a courtyard, the school garden or a neighborhood street, means getting closer and exploring the cycle of life and the seasons, researching nature, gradually getting to know the world we live in, to understand it and learn to take care of it.
In the school there is a tree-lined garden, with a paved part and a part used as a vegetable garden.
