National Museum of the Resistance

The National Museum of the Resistance was born from the Memorandum of Understanding between the Municipality of Milan and the Ministry of Culture for the creation, within an area of municipal property originally intended for tertiary functions, of the most important museum for the conservation and viewing of historical material inherent to the period of Liberation and the immediate post-war period.

The project will take into account the need to valorise the archaeological finds relating to the discovery of the ancient Spanish walls.

The design, currently in the executive phase, was carried out by Studio Herzog & de Meuron, already designers of the mirrored intervention hosting the Feltrinelli Foundation.

The construction of the work will be entirely guaranteed by ministerial funds and its inauguration is scheduled for 25 April 2025 on the 80th anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from the regime.
