EP-0 - Supporting progress towards deep energy retrofit in districts, scaling up to fight energy poverty

Project
The project aims to implement actions that aim to facilitate the adoption of renovation approaches for the large-scale diffusion of redevelopment interventions for buildings in vulnerable neighborhoods. The proposed actions focus on reducing redevelopment costs, including already tested measures for deep renovation, such as insulation of the envelope, replacement/improvement of the building's technical systems and could include the production of renewable energy. Holistic and industrialized deep renovation solutions are hypothesized, including approaches based on prefabricated modules (EnergySprong).

Start date: 01/11/2021

Partnership
Leader: Greenflex – Paris. Partner: Municipality of Milan; Bordeaux Métropole Energie; Slim Renoveren; SNAM Foundation; R2M Solutions.

objectives
The proposed actions focus on reducing redevelopment costs, including already tested measures for deep renovation, such as insulation of the envelope, replacement/improvement of the building's technical systems and could include the production of renewable energy. Holistic and industrialized deep renovation solutions are hypothesized, including approaches based on prefabricated modules (EnergySprong).

Actions
As a partner of the project, the Municipality of Milan will carry out the following activities:
1. participate, as a stakeholder, in the creation of the case study for the large-scale diffusion of building redevelopment interventions in vulnerable neighborhoods;
2. consequently identify a pilot case among the buildings owned by the Municipality in which to experiment with the design;
3. carry out the related planning, monitoring and evaluation activities of the results relating to the pilot case;
4. evaluate the environmental risk present on the sites under investigation and identify new development opportunities;
5. liaise with stakeholders/end users for solution validation;
6. carry out activities to disseminate and share the results that can be achieved.

Expected results
The proposed actions will highlight the multiple benefits resulting from renovation for different vulnerable groups, such as improved health, comfort, air quality, better social inclusion, etc. The actions will aim to minimize carbon emissions. Among the priority actions of the project is the planning of energy requalification interventions on a "sample" building owned by the Municipality of Milan which will provide useful indications for the future application of the renovation measures also for subsequent ones.
