CITIES4CSR

The project

Cities4CSR is the first URBACT network in Europe that explicitly addresses the relationship between local governments and the main economic players in the area in the name of solving urban problems through Corporate Social Responsibility (or CSR, from the English Corporate Social Responsibility).

The network aims to develop a method that can increase the potential of CSR to respond to unmet local needs.

Partnership

The CITIES4CSR network involves ten European cities, each of which focuses its activity on specific local challenges and themes related to corporate social responsibility, according to local needs and municipal priorities.

Partner:

  1. Municipality of Milan (Project leader);
  2. Sofia (Bulgaria);
  3. Vratsa (Bulgaria);
  4. Kekava (Latvia);
  5. Rijeka (Croatia);
  6. Guimarães (Portugal);
  7. Molina de Segura (Spain);
  8. Budaörs (Hungary);
  9. Bratislava (Slovakia);
  10. Nantes Métropole (France).

The CITIES4CSR project identifies opportunities in Corporate Social Responsibility actions to improve municipal and urban strategies by exploiting the value of partnerships with the private sector and stakeholders at local level.

The main objective of the project is to unlock and facilitate unexpressed economic, social and environmental opportunities within our cities to encourage conscious and sustainable urban regeneration.

At the same time, at the European network level, the project provides a valuable opportunity to share good practices on CSR actions and experiences conducted locally by cities. The objective is to achieve a common understanding and awareness of the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility for the development and improvement of local policies.

The project involves the organization of six transnational exchange meetings (Transnational Meeting or TNM) aimed at defining local action plans that facilitate the implementation of territorial social responsibility strategies.

Each meeting will focus on a particular thematic focus: legal framework and obstacles to CSR; public procurement, strategic framework and formalization of CSR; sustainable development goals; development of the RSI platform; indicators and measurements; people-based public and business services; the participatory budget; Eastern Europe and CSR.

During each meeting, a CSR Academy will also be organised, i.e. a training session on different aspects of CSR with ad-hoc experts, where learning will be actively promoted by bringing together knowledge, tools, experts and processes.

Promote inclusive co-learning and peer-to-peer learning processes among partners, following the innovative methodology of URBACT.

Facilitate the development of the Local Integrated Action Plan by each city involved, which is the main result of the CITIES4CSR project.
