Is the geological report always mandatory?

The geological report must always be attached to the project with the exception of interventions not listed in point 6.1.1 of the NTC2018 or which have no influence on them. In fact, it is a mandatory document contained within the specialist reports provided for in point 5.1) of chapter C10.1 of circular 7 of 21 January 2019.

In the case of constructions or interventions of modest importance, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph 6.2.2. NTC2018, design can be based on experience and available knowledge. In the case of constructions or interventions of modest importance, which fall in areas well known from a geotechnical point of view, the design can be based on pre-existing investigations and documented tests, without prejudice to the designer's full responsibility for hypotheses and design choices.
