When is it necessary to verify the variation in stiffness and resistance of interventions for the construction of stairs and resulting openings?

In the event that the opening affects a load-bearing structural element, it is possible to classify the intervention as local only if this does not lead to a change in the response of the main element and does not lead to a reduction in safety.

To verify this condition, you can refer to chap. C8.4.1 of circular 7 of 21 January 2019, which states that "the modification of a limited part of the structure (e.g. the opening of a space in a wall, accompanied by appropriate reinforcements) can fall into this category, depending on provided that it is demonstrated that the set of interventions does not significantly modify the stiffness, resistance to horizontal actions and deformation capacity of the structure".

The above must be duly documented in the calculation report.
