Daily air quality report

In order to make effective disclosure to citizens of situations of acute episodes of air pollution, the Municipality of Milan has made use, starting from 2001, of the 'Daily Report on Air Quality' of the city of Milan, which contains a immediate and complete description of the state of air quality in the municipal area.

The report is drawn up daily by Amat, the technical body of the Municipality, through a dedicated and city-focused re-elaboration of the data validated and transmitted by ARPA Lombardia
air bulletin.

In the report, available both in a concise and printable version (pdf file) and in an interactive online version, you can find:

  • current air quality situation (data from the previous 24 hours) for the concentrations in the atmosphere of PM10, PM2.5, NO2, Ozone, CO, SO2 and benzene with highlighting the compliance/non-compliance with Italian and European legislation of the reference (average concentrations, maximum hourly/8-hour averages) via tabular description and on an interactive map
  • analysis of the trend of the recent historical series of concentrations (last 10 days) and verification of the existence of critical elements for the activation of measures to inform the population and/or to contain polluting emissions (traffic limitations, management of heating systems, etc. ) for the city, for the Metropolitan City and in the Milan agglomeration linked to exceeding the Information Thresholds, Alarm Thresholds or Limit Values
  • description of the atmospheric diffusive conditions (favorable for the accumulation rather than the dispersion of pollutants) as a result of the current meteorological situation and forecast for the following 72 hours
  • summary of the situation of the monthly average concentrations, partial annual averages or moving average of the last year for the concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5, also in comparison with the concentrations of previous years and the Limit Values established by the European Union.
