On the basis of the Regional Air Plan, Lombardy municipalities with a population exceeding 30.000 inhabitants belonging to Bands 1 and 2 (of which the Municipality of Milan is part) can activate temporary and emergency measures for air quality in the period between the 1st October and March 31st of each year.

The measures are divided into two levels, considering the continuous exceeding of the daily limit for PM10 of 50 μg/m3 recorded by the reference stations: for at least 4 days take the 1st level, for at least 7 days take the 2th level.
