Low Emission Zones

In order to reduce the environmental and health impact on the population of polluting emissions from the heavy vehicle sector, the PUMS - Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan envisages the creation of a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) as a priority plan action.

The Low Emission Zone represents an area within which only vehicles that comply with certain environmental criteria and/or standards can enter. The greatest number of vehicles traveling within the LEZ are therefore the cleanest vehicles with lower exhaust emissions and this leads directly to the improvement of air quality with particular reference to exposure to pollutants from nearby traffic.
