The Municipality manages the Minor Water Network (RIM) for state-owned waterways.

On the basis of a Service Contract stipulated in 2009, the Municipality entrusted MM S.p.A. the cleaning and maintenance services of the waterways of the state-owned RIM. The remaining part is managed by private individuals and consortia.

As part of the interventions to counteract the rising water table, the Municipality has entrusted MM S.p.A. with the maintenance of the first aquifer wells.

The Po River Basin authority has defined the structure for the Seveso torrent project.

The changed conditions of the territory, due to the urbanization of the stream, have led to the identification of interventions, among which there is also the lamination tank in the North Park.

The aim of this project, within the entire Seveso water system, including the other lamination tanks, will be to contain the waters of the stream during the flood phase by laminating it. The objective is to guarantee, in the transitional phase, better hydraulic safety in the areas affected by flooding and, in the definitive phase, to withstand events with a hundred-year return period without flooding.

In the period in which the lamination tank is not used for its hydraulic functions, it will be used for a recreational-landscape function as a lake fed with groundwater and completed by a perimeter cycle path.

Environmental Mediation Procedure

Environmental mediation is the way to try to manage and prevent conflicts regarding the territory, through meeting and dialogue between the parties, acting in a constructive and direct way.

This procedure took place, from February to September 2019, between the Municipality of Milan, the Lombardy Region, Parco Nord, MM S.p.A. and Municipality of Bresso in relation to the realization of the work.

At the end of the discussion, which took place at the Arbitration Chamber of Milan, the desire emerged, shared by all the participants at the table, to make public the summary dossier of the issues discussed during the meetings held before the designated mediator, in order to allow the knowledge of what emerged, discussed and explored in depth therein and to facilitate its consultation by all those interested in the matter.
