YesMilan. The first neighborhood-identifying mural has been unveiled in Bovisa

Milan, June 11 2021 – Today, Friday 11 June, at 15 pm, in via Cosenz alla Bovisa, the first artistic wall work bearing the name of the neighborhood itself will be inaugurated. The 'A name in every neighborhood' initiative is part of the Neighborhood by neighborhood campaign, created by Milano&partners and aimed at Milanese people, city users and tourists who are returning to the city, to (re)discover the riches and identity of the city area.

The project is conceived and produced in synergy with the Art office in the public spaces of the Municipality of Milan and carried out thanks to the contribution provided by the Fondazione di Comunità Milano with tender 57 in which Milano&partners participated, and will leave the Milanese neighborhoods with a mural painting that it will bear the name of the neighborhood itself, with the aim of marking, even graphically, the identity of the many souls of the city.

"The Milan Community Foundation, strong in its roots in the territory - declares the President, Carlo Marchetti -, supports the project. A name in every neighborhood because it offers the community the possibility of enjoying works of art in everyday life. In this way people can find, in the name and image, the distinctive features of their neighborhood and recognize themselves as part of a community; a way to recreate belonging and strengthen the bond between the spaces of the city and the inhabitants who pass through them and live there. The intervention is even more significant because it is part of a broader process of activation and participation that involves associations, informal groups and citizens, for the care and promotion of the city's places".

The mural in via Cosenz was created as part of the Poli urban colors exhibition, which for 10 days colored the neighborhood with street art activities along the perimeter of the Polytechnic Campus. "Bovisa", curated by Luca Meyr as part of the exhibition, was created by Andrea Gasparro aka Sorte, born in 1997, graduated in Communication Design at the Polytechnic of Milan. Passionate about graphic arts, in 2015 he approached the world of calligraphy.

After Bovisa, in the coming weeks the identifying wall works of art of the Portello neighborhoods will be revealed, a work that will be created by the artist Rendo, Città studi, from a graphic idea by the designer Serena Confalonieri and Corvetto which will be colored thanks to the work of Pablo Pinxit Compagnucci and Lillo Loris.

Finally, the creation of the first eight murals in the city's neighborhoods will be accompanied by "Milan's murales", a photo reportage by photographer Daniela Cavallo who will tell, through the colors of the walls and the faces of the 'street artists', the creation of the works step by step. step and the impressions of those who watch them.

The Neighborhood by neighborhood campaign will continue until September, with other neighborhoods as protagonists. All collaborations, neighborhood schedules and active projects are constantly updated and implemented on the dedicated hub on the site yesmilano.it.

The Neighborhood by neighborhood communication campaign, launched with the YesMilano brand, is a project by Milano&partners - the promotion agency of the city of Milan, promoted by the Municipality of Milan and the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce - born following a Design marathon organized by NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts which saw the involvement of 50 students from the Communication and graphic design, Design and Media design and new technologies areas of the academy.
