YesMilan. Brera, Bovisa and Porta Venezia are the neighborhoods to discover in June

Neighborhood by Neighborhood continues the campaign to promote the city through its neighborhoods. A month of events, extraordinary openings, presentations, exhibitions and guided tours.

Milan, June 6 2021 – The city is its neighborhoods. The journey continues - which began in May with Baggio, Isola and Chiaravalle - which YesMilano with the Neighborhood by Neighborhood campaign offers to Milanese people, city users and tourists who are returning to the city, to (re)discover the riches and identity of the city area. In June the three neighborhoods under the spotlight are: Brera, Bovisa and Porta Venezia.

"The journey to discover the districts of our beautiful Milan continues - declares the councilor for tourism Roberta Guaineri - with the aim of enhancing and promoting all that heritage of architectural and artistic beauties and all those local excellences for a 'slow' and sustainable, which reflects our project to develop a city 15 minutes away, polycentric and welcoming. This campaign represents a precious opportunity to enhance the territory and at the same time to renew the spirit of identity of the Milanese".

Brera, the Art District of Milan with its bohemian atmosphere that resists and is still felt today. There are many activities that will enliven the district during the month, with visits to the Appiani building curated by FAI, the rich cultural program of Casa degli Artisti, the many exhibitions of the ateliers present, and the programming of the cinemas and theaters cannot be missing always characterize the neighborhood and who return in these days to welcome their audience.

Bovisa, a district which from an industrial engine in the northern area of the city has become a university center thanks to the presence of the Polytechnic which, with over 25 students on the Bovisa Campus, animates the area throughout the year. The district opens the month of June with ten days of "Poli Urban Colors", an international exhibition that attracts renowned urban artists and writers who will color the walls of the campus along via Schiaffino for a week, the inauguration of the works scheduled for 11 June.

The 'A name in every neighborhood' project kicks off right inside the Poli Urban Colors, conceived and curated in collaboration with the Art in Public Spaces office of the Municipality of Milan and created thanks to the contribution of the Milan Community Foundation, which will leave to the Milanese neighborhoods a mural painting that will bear the name of the neighborhood itself, with the aim of marking, even graphically, the proper identity of the many souls of the city.

Porta Venezia, the Afro-Milanese and queer neighborhood that greets you with the rainbow flag right from the metro stop and that will be able to color itself even more with the dozens of initiatives planned for the month of pride, which will culminate during the pride week starting on the 18th of the month. On 24 June an extraordinary screening, thanks to the collaboration with Cineteca Milano MEET, of the documentary 'Porta(le) Venezia' which, through the voice of its inhabitants, famous and unknown, tells how over the years the area has increasingly established itself as a where experimentation and mixing are distinctive features.

Interesting neighborhoods will also have theirs in June scores, thanks to the playlists designed and created in collaboration with the neighborhoods themselves. The Brera soundtrack was curated by Atelier Musicale di Casa degli Artisti and its sounds tell not only the places but also the people who made Brera a meeting place for artists and intellectuals from the world; It will be some of these artists together with the protagonists of Atelier Musicale who will tell us about the neighborhood on a special day at Casa degli Artisti. Bovisa instead sees the collaboration with the independent record label Artetetra specialized in exotic, ethnic and tropical sounds, sounds that will accompany the neighborhood towards the summer. And finally Porta Venezia, faithful to its vocation of inclusion, has Nava, an Iranian singer who decided to put down her roots in the neighborhood, as curator of the project.

The tours to discover the neighborhoods also continue, again thanks to the contribution of the Tourism Department of the Municipality of Milan in collaboration with the professional tourist guides of GITEC, who on Saturday 19 June will illustrate the beauties of the city to those who have booked for free on the site YesMilano.it. Also in June, the environmental, social and cultural sustainability initiatives of Milan IS Goood, the community of goooders committed to improving the city, kick off.

The new game developed to discover which of the three neighborhoods is most in line with one's mood and desire to learn, in the month of May over 23 thousand citizens "tested" their affinity with the proposed neighborhoods: Baggio was the most followed neighborhood, both in terms of playlists and visits to the site yesmilano.it
Finally the three faces of the neighborhoods, Lea, Monica and Shumin with their stories to be discovered, always on yesmilano.it

The Neighborhood by Neighborhood communication campaign, launched with the YesMilano brand, is a project by Milano&Partners - the promotion agency of the city of Milan, promoted by the Municipality of Milan and the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce - born following a Design Marathon organized by NABA, New Academy of Fine Arts which saw the involvement of 50 students from the Communication and Graphic Design, Design and Media Design and New Technologies Areas of the Academy. And it is precisely with the creative support of the students that the posters that will color Milan from Monday 7 June were created, as well as the previous posters dedicated to the other neighborhoods, and like the idea of developing a playlist for each of them to become the soundtrack of the city.

“This is an important opportunity - says Donato Medici, Managing Director of NABA - for the Academy students involved in the Neighborhood by Neighborhood campaign, to see their ideas take shape week after week in the streets of the city”.
